Aggies conclude weekend with victories across the board in Lowell
The Aggies concluded their weekend of racing in Lowell Sunday with the first-ever New England State University Regatta. UMass had a clean sweep, winning all four of their events against the other state schools. (Boston College also raced several boats, but competed merely for exhibition.)
Spring is Here!
Massachusetts ended their five month racing hiatus Saturday, competing at the Class of 2003 cup on Lake Quinsigamond. UMass raced four eights in three different categories against Hamilton, Wesleyan, Colby, and host, WPI. Ultimately, it was Wesleyan who took home the cup after winning the first and second varsity eights events.

Fun with the Fish
The Massachusetts men’s rowing varsity team concluded their fall racing campaign Saturday at the Head of the Fish in Saratoga, New York.
But, what should have been a jam-packed day of racing for the Aggies was cut short by inclement weather that included consistent, strong rain, excessively choppy waters, regular gusts of wind over thirty miles per hour, and temperatures that danced around the freezing point all day.
Aggies have busy weekend at 54th Head of the Charles
It was a lively weekend for the Massachusetts men’s rowing team, as the varsity team raced three boats across Saturday and Sunday at the 54th Head of the Charles regatta in Boston. In addition, multiple alumni shells competed under the ”Aging Aggies Rowing Club” title.
Head of the Charles Information
As you all now know, the Aggies are headed back to the Charles this year. Below I have detailed all the information specific to the regatta from the HOCR website, as well as UMass Men related info. Come stop by, watch us race, grab some amazing food, see the vendors, chat with our rowers and enjoy the scenic, historic regatta!
UMass Builds Momentum Leading up to Head of the Charles
Coming off an impressive day of racing in Shelton, CT last weekend, the Aggies defended their home course at Saturday’s Hadley chase. Racing four boats (three eight’s and one four) in the frigid rain and winning the men’s collegiate eight event. It was also the first race of the year for the Aggies novice team.
Massachusetts Begins Fall Racing Schedule
The Aggies kicked off their fall racing campaign with the Head of the Housatonic in Shelton, Connecticut this past Saturday. Massachusetts looked to carry over momentum from last May’s strong showing at the ACRA National Championships (placing 7th, surpassing their previous best of 11th in the nation) proving that, even after graduating over ten seniors from last season, they are still one of the top dogs in the Northeast.
Charles and Housatonic Updates
This previous weekend, the Aggies experienced a pleasant change of scenery as they took to the historic Charles River in the Boston, launching out of the Community Rowing Inc. facilities.
Welcome to the Grind
Welcome to the 2018-19 iteration of UMass Men's Rowing, a team looking to continue the success of the past few years. After graduating over a dozen seniors, losing an assistant coach, and finishing in the grand finals at ACRA, many would expect a downward trend.
Not this team.
ACRA Action
After a long and grueling season the Aggies brought their best down to Gainesville for the ACRA Championship Regatta. As mentioned previously, this would be a historically significant one with opportunities to see both the fastest V8 in decades, the first full novice eight in years, and a 2V8 looking for a third straight grand final appearance.
Down to Georgia!
This week UMass Men's rowing heads down to Gainesville, GA for the 2018 ACRA Championships! For the first time in three years the team will be bringing a full freshman eight alongside a N4, 2V8 and V8.
