Head of the Housatonic Regatta 2025
On Saturday, October 11th, the Aggies headed to Derby Conneticut for the Head of the Housatonic regatta. The varsity squad was racing two 8+ as well as one 4+ and the novice squad was racing two 8+ as well. The day was chilly and there was some wind towards the end of the race day.
The first event for the Aggies was the Mens Collegiate Varsity 8+. The crew had two boats entered in this category.
1V8+: 10th out of 23
The varsity 8+, comprised of Mitchell Cruz (Coxswain), Daniel Smith (stroke), Luka Lasic (7), Luke Shamaly (6), Matthew Lavoie (5), Zachary Kirchner (4), Ryan Greenwood (3), Gage Lane (2), and Anders Borger (bow), has a strong race, finishing 10th overall, and second out of all the ACRA teams racing in that category.
2V8+: 21th out of 23
The second varsity 8+, consisting of Datya Kurzban (Coxswain), Graham Schwendt (stroke), Marcus Larsson (7), Ryan Tessitore (6), Nick Parikh (5), Jason Miska (4), Augustus Elam (3), Edward keen (2), and Hector Munoz (bow), powered through and had a strong finish.
The next event was for the two novice boats, entered in the Mens Collegiate Novice 8+ category.
1N8+: 2nd out of 8
The novice 8+ made up of of Abigail Quinby (Coxswain), Jihwan Yu (stroke), Sam Haynes (7), Parker Cole (6), Marcus Rooney (5), Jonas Reid (4), Ben Marshall (3), Kiyan Zayed (2), and Josh Mastromatteo (bow), performed a strong race and finished with a silver medal.
2N8+: 6th out of 7
The second novice 8+, consisting of Bryce Cioffi (Coxswain), Henry Wilson-Winter (stroke), Shane Lomascolo (7), Ryan Perry (6), Sage Arias (5), Aryah Shah (4), Doruk Bilge (3), Liam Monaghan (2), and Derrick Chung (bow) closed out strong, marking the end of novice racing for the day.
The last event for the Aggies was the Varsity 4+ race.
1V4+: 7th out of 18
The varsity 4+ comprising Chad Zannotti (Coxswain), Daniel Smith (stroke) Luka Lasic (3), Gage Lane (2), and Matthew Lavoie (bow), had a strong race finishing only 0.7 seconds after the boat in front of them. The boat looks to continue its momentum into the Head of the Charles Men’s Club Fours event on Saturday.
The next event for the Aggies is Head of the Charles on Saturday October 18th.
