Head of the Snake 2025
On Saturday, October 4th, the Aggies traveled to Worcester, Massachusetts to participate in the Head of the Snake regatta where the Aggies had four boats racing. The varsity squad had two 8+ and the novice squad as well as the novice squad running two 8+. The day was nice and warm giving way to ideal rowing conditions.
The first event for the Aggies was the Mens Collegiate Novice 8+.
1N8+: 2nd out of 7
The novice 8+ comprised of Oumniyah Benalia (Coxswain), Jonas Reid (stroke), Hector Munaz (7), Ben Marshall (6), Marcus Rooney (5), Parker Cole (4), Jihwan Yu (3), Sam Haynes (2), and Josh Mastromatteo (bow), raced to a competitive finish, placing second.
2N8+: 6th out of 7
The second novice 8+, including Abby Quinby (Coxswain), Henry Wilson-Winter (stroke), Shane Lomascolo (7), Shane Hess (6), Liam Monaghan (5), Ryan Perry (4), Kiyan Zayed (3), Doruk Bilge (2), and Derrick Chung (bow) raced to a strong finish at the regatta to round out the novice events for the Aggies for the day.
Moving to the varsity events, the Aggies had two eights entered in the Mens Collegiate Varsity 8+ event.
1V8+: 12th out of 20
The 1V8+, consisting of Jonathan Shi (Coxswain), Daniel Smith (stroke), Luka Lasic (7), Luke Shamaly (6), Matthew Lavoie (5), Zachary Kirchner (4), Ryan Greenwood (3), Gage Lane (2), and Anders Borger (bow), finished strong in the competitive race, coming within seconds from the boats ahead.
2V8+: 17th out of 20
The 2V8+, composed of Skyler Ellis (Coxswain), Graham Schwendt (stroke), Marcus Larsson (7), Ryan Tessitore (6), Nick Parikh (5), Jason Miska (4), Augustus Elam (3), Edward keen (2), and Kayan Volpe (bow), pushed through the finish line, holding off rivalry boats.
